ABC Wednesday! O is for ?

Tia is my oldest friend. When she comes to visit , I am happy to share with her. I was especially happy to share the hat since I dislike wearing it!

Even Tia was a bit ashamed by having to weat the hat.

After the shoot, the lady let me go out.
Ever observant, I quickly spied the squirrel!

Many say I am obsessed with them, but all that activity keeps me spry for an old girl!

Happy Howl-O-Ween!!

Over the weekend my lady went to help with a town event for kids. Here is one of my friends. He was stuck in jail and had to wear a doofey hat that says prisoner. He is hoping someone will spring him!

After he did his time he did get sprung. Boy, he was on happy puppy and had to really show his appreciation!

LuLu wasn't so lucky, she had to wear her witch's hat the whole afternoon. Doesn't she just melt your heart??

Never Judge !

When I meet strangers, and this pumpkin man was very strange, I try to never judge them by their appearance. The pumpkin man ended up being pretty nice: very quiet, didn't take any of my treats, but I did find myself wishing that he would quit staring!!

Get Ready! Howloween is coming!

Each year it is the same. Regardless of our feeling on the matter, the humans feel compelled to dress us up. Since an early age, I have refused to go along with this game. I might wear a hat, but come on, clothes! I really didnt like having to be Toto, for this event. Hey he was a Cairn terrier lady, not a JRT! If you look close , check out my ears, back like that means I am only doing this for the treat!! Dorthy just got to sit there like the scarecrow she was, but I had to look interesting!
Get ready, and do you really like dressing up??

Accept what you can't change!

As much as I love to run, hunt and chase the squirrels , some days it just isnt going to happen. Instead of whining at the door, I find it best just to accept what you can't change. While it isn't as entertaining as hunting, the fire does feel mighty fine on a chilly rainy day!

ABC Wednesday! N is for Nature of the Beast!

When considering adding a dog to your family, consider the nature of the beast. WE are dogs after all, and many dogs follow the genetic code that has been hardwired into them .

Terriers love to hunt and smell out rats! I know he is hiding in the shed , I can smell the vermainy varmit!

Pointers need to run and hunt! It is just their nature.

Sighthounds live to run, their instinct to chase can be triggered by anything in the distance they feel they need to chase.

Herding breeds are driven to herd, it could be your kids or cats that they end up herding.

Coondogs howl !

Retreivers love the water and use any excuse to get in and get wet.

So when you consider adding a dog to your family, consider the nature of the beast!

Culitivate Toddlers!

Over the years I have found that toddlers make great friends! Sure you might have to tolerate a little rough handling, but they are sure to be sloppy eaters. I help clean up and often when the adults aren't paying attention , my toddler friends give me whole pieces of sandwiches, cookies, ect! Find yourself a personal toddler and you are set for life!

Ears to you !!

Humans judge so much by the way things look. Here is my new friend, Minnie, while her ears are not correct for a Jack Russell, I say who the heck cares! Us dogs don't care, the only thing I care about is that she decided I was quite the plaything and was willing to chase and be chased!

Besides how cute can one little dog be! Erect ears and all, she is the cutest JRT puppy I have played with for quite a while. Ears to you Minnie!!

ABC Wednesday! M is for Mollification!

Wow , what a great word Mollification! This puppy was getting out of hand, his continued jumping on me was beginning to wear thin!

Luckily he got the message and decided he had better do some mollification before I lost my temper!

My friend Sophie also started thinking she had best do some mollification before things got out of hand! Sometimes it is best to just suck it up and do some mollification!

Old Friends are the best friends!

This is Tia, my very first puppy friend. I am now ten and Tia is eleven so we have known each other a long time. Tia has been blind for almost two years now. Her handicap doesnt seem to bother her much and the rest of us dogs just accept that is the way it is for Tia. I do sometimes forget and lift a lip at her . I forget she can't see my signal that she is overstepping her guest privileges!

Share and share alike!

It is easy to become attached to our possessions. When my friend Snaffle comes, I suddenly have to share things that are important to me. Sharing the sunny bed isnt so hard when I know she will leaving in a while.

Read the News!

At our book signing last weekend in Rehoboth Beach DE, the lady noticed that the people who came in to the bookstore early were obsessed about reading the news. One paper was late and it was as if the world was coming to an end! She finally had to ask to find out what important paper they were missing, it was the sunday edition of the local news.
Luckily us dogs use our noses to read the news!
While not all dogs let me read the news most do and that makes my day!

Be willing to explore!

Always be willing to explore new things. Who would have thunk that I would find the stuff in the bottom of this pumpkin to be very tasty eating! Push your limits and you might very well be rewarded!

Jealousy rears its ugly head!

Jealousy! I have figured out something important. Look at the word jealousy, notice the second part of the word is lousy! I think that is perfect since feeling jealous can make you feel lousy. Here I must say I was a little jealous. Hey, my lady is the photographer, why didnt I make the cover, look how much better I would have been there!

I got to thinking that at least I got 12 pictures of myself in the book! Here is Tink , also in the book. She is sporting a new hat from the one in the book.

This is Lettie who is also in the book. It was fun seeing dogs that my lady photographed a while back!
Now I am not jealous. I am happy I have so many pics in the book, and who knows , maybe the next book will have me on the cover. I can only hope!

The Price of Fame!

Now I know how famous people feel. Many hands reaching out to touch you , to want to know you , and to be part of what you are. I have decided that I enjoy the price of fame. After these kids had their fill of petting me, they gave me treats!

Count your blessings!

While at the beach I met a sweet dog named Spencer. He is only three and he has cancer. His human is doing everything she can for him and making each day count.

That is the beauty of us dogs. We never take anything for granted and each day is a new day.
I say count your blessings, hug your sweet dogs and enjoy your life!
